Mounting an afp drive automatically on a mac

I need to mount a couple of volumes from one of our lab computers to do my work. The share type is AFP, which stands for Apple Filing Protocol.  It’s not really a big deal, but if it were automatic, it would save me a few minutes every day.  To do it manually, just go to the finder menu, Go –> Connect to Server (or apple-K), and type afp://name@ip.address.edu.  Once it’s mounted, you can make it automatic by going to System Preferences –> accounts.  Choose account, click login items button, select the Volume, and hey – presto!  It should be mounted automatically at the next reboot.

(I can’t take the credit for this, instructions were paraphrased from this site)
