Back to School

Happy New Year!

John and I just got back from Michigan yesterday, and were greeted with bitterly cold, but clear and sunny weather.  It feels more like a late fall day in Fredericton than a winter day in Seattle.  I didn’t wear gloves on my run with Trooper this morning, and regretted it when my fingers and ears started to freeze.  And now for the New Year’s resolutions (recorded here in my blog for better or for worse – maybe it’ll help me stick with them):

  • Read one academic paper each week.  I am planning on creating an org-mode file specifically for writing up the main points from each paper.  I find that typing something helps me to remember it, and it will also help when I’m looking for a brief overview later.
  • Do yoga at least 3 times per week.  I need to do this – my shoulders and back are already a mess, and the quarter hasn’t even started.  Also, my knees always feel better when I am doing yoga regularly.

That’s it.  I don’t want to get too ambitious with the resolutions, or I’ll break them right away.
